Ecumenical
Catholic Church in India’s (ECCI)
commitment is to prayer, dialogue, reconciliation, and practical cooperation
among Christians.
The
Gospel calls us not only to believe but also to serve.
Therefore,
Ecumenical Catholic Church in India (ECCI) seeks to put Christian faith
into action by reaching out to people who are poor, lonely, elderly, abandoned,
marginalized, or in need of spiritual and practical support.
We
believe that the Church must be present where people are hurting.
Our
ministry seeks to express the love of Christ through:
- Prayer
- Compassion
- Justice
- Reconciliation
- Service
- Solidarity
CALL
TO MERCY AND RECONCILIATION
Mercy
opens the human heart to hope and new life.
We
recognize that Christians have contributed, both individually and collectively,
to divisions within the Body of Christ. Therefore, we approach the work of
ecumenism with humility.
We
ask God's forgiveness for our failures and seek reconciliation with our
brothers and sisters.
Christian
unity begins with conversion of heart.
The
more faithfully Christians live according to the Gospel, the more effectively
they can contribute to the unity Christ desires.
As
we draw closer to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we are also called
to grow closer to one another in mutual love and brotherhood.
A CALL TO CHRISTIAN UNITY
The
Christian world continues to experience divisions that have caused pain and
scandal throughout history.
Ecumenical
Catholic Church in India (ECCI) believes that
Christians must not allow these divisions to become greater than the Gospel
that unites us.
As
followers of Christ, we are called to pray for one another, forgive one
another, listen to one another, and work together for the good of humanity.
We
believe that God is Love, Peace, Justice, and Mercy, and that every
human being is created with dignity and worth.
Therefore,
this is a time to renew our commitment to Christian unity.
If
Christians cannot agree on every question, we should nevertheless seek the
things we can do together: proclaim Christ, serve those in need, defend human
dignity, work for peace, promote justice, and protect the faith entrusted to
us.
Above
all, we pray for an end to the divisions that continue to trouble Christianity.
